A total of 281 officer cadets — 253 men and 28 women — were commissioned into the Army

The parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command.
The Indian Army welcomed a new batch of officers on Saturday as the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya held its Winter Term Passing Out Parade.
A total of 281 officer cadets — 253 men and 28 women — were commissioned into the Army, marking the end of months of intense military training and the beginning of their careers as young leaders in uniform.
The parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command. Addressing the newly commissioned officers, he said the nature of warfare is changing rapidly and future leaders must be ready to deal with complex and unpredictable threats.
“Emerging technologies, information dominance and multi-domain operations are reshaping future battlefields," he said. According to him, modern conflicts will not be limited to traditional battlefields but will also involve cyberspace, artificial intelligence, space and the electromagnetic spectrum.
The ceremony marked a proud moment not only for the cadets but also for their families and instructors who witnessed their transformation into officers of the Indian Army. The parade, known for its precise drill and discipline, symbolised the cadets’ transition from trainees to leaders responsible for commanding soldiers.
Congratulating the officers, Lt Gen Seth praised their determination and perseverance during training. He also acknowledged the support of their families and mentors who played an important role in shaping their character and commitment.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Army Commander said the operation showcased the Indian Army’s ability to respond quickly and effectively by combining capabilities across different domains. He said such operations highlight how modern warfare demands integration of technology, intelligence and conventional military strength.
During his address, Lt Gen Seth shared a simple leadership framework with the young officers through the acronym “LEADER." He explained that officers must Lead by Example, show Empathy for their men, remain Accountable in command, place Duty before self, uphold Ethical conduct and display Resilience during adversity.
He reminded the officers that leadership in the Army is not just about authority but about responsibility and trust. According to him, officers must lead with courage, compassion and humility while always putting the nation and their soldiers first.
The parade also reflected the role of OTA Gaya in preparing future military leaders. The academy focuses on building officers who are physically strong, technologically aware and mentally resilient.
As the newly commissioned officers marched out of the academy gates, they carried forward the Indian Army’s core values of service, sacrifice and commitment to the nation. Their journey as leaders has just begun, but the responsibility they carry is immense.
